The scoring system explained
Runners taking part in any of the series races will be awarded 5 race points.
Bonus points are allocated on a relative time difference basis where the first time the course is run by a runner is counted as their best time until the second time when that time is used.
Bonus points are based on a runners time relative to either their previous best time or a target time set at the start of the series. Points are scaled from from 20 to 1 according to whether or not there has been an improvement however points are also awarded where time is not bettered with all runners gaining at least one bonus point.
Races are started with runners setting off at precisely calculated time intervals derived from their best times.
First time runners will normally be paired with someone of a similar pace and where mentors are used to shadow junior runners the mentor will be awarded the same bonus points as the person they are mentoring.
Additional bonus points are awarded based on the number of races in which a runner has participated.
